Broken-down Teeth

In cases where teeth are badly broken-down, indirect dental restorations that are stronger than direct dental fillings may be necessary to restore the lost tooth structure. These fixed dental restorations include inlays, onlays and crowns.

Inlays and onlays are indirect fixed partial restorations that are fitted to a prepared configuration in the tooth and cemented into place. A crown is an indirect fixed restoration which completely covers or encircles a tooth and is also cemented into place.

Crowns can be made from many materials such as gold alloy, ceramic, or a combination of both materials. Crowns are indicated to protect the remaining tooth structure and to improve the appearance of the teeth.
